Happy Mothers Day

The girls when little

During May 1961 nearing the end of my confinement Laurie decided it being so close to Mother’s Day that we would celebrate on the right day and date .He surprised me giving me a lovely cameo broach which remains a cherished possession. Later in the month we were able to celebrate again with a beautiful baby girl Anne Karen.

A completely different celebration occurred when Debbie was about five years old: she persuaded her dad to take her into the town to buy a present for Mother’s Day. On the Sunday she came out with a nicely wrapped present with her face radiating her excitement. On opening the parcel I had to contain myself as I wanted to laugh as I clutched a packet of jelly beans. She stood so proud of herself asking me to open them, giving me the black ones which she didn’t like and set about devouring the rest. The story is related every Mother’s Day: sometimes the bag gets bigger but produces the same loving feelings.

To all mothers Happy Mother’s Day

and happy memories.
